At the party

I designed and used this activity for the first time a couple of months ago and it worked very well. It is thought as a warmer or filler for esl intermediate students or above and provides a good practice of oral skills.

Each student is given one card of the set you can see below. Each card contains a different command about the attitude they must assume at the party. They pretend they’re at a party, so it’s good to play some lively music while doing the activity. The commands are different and each one has a specific task, for example: “you are drunk”, “you don’t like the music”, “you don’t have a car and need someone to give you a lift”, etc.

The situations let students interact in a very funny way. As said at the beginning, it worked perfectly with my students.
